The Chicago Bears are one of the most storied franchises in NFL history. They’ve had several hall of famers, and despite some great offensive stars like Walter Payton and Gale Sayers, most of the Bears legends are from the defensive side of the ball.

Putting this list together is difficult when you consider how many great two way players there were in the first 30 years or so of the Bears’ existence. But this list focuses on defense only. You won’t see names like Clyde “Bulldog” Turner who were stellar defensive players, but made far more of a mark on the offensive side of the ball. Even just focusing on defense, it still left a lot of great options go choose from.

There were several different factors that went into this list- impact on the field, accolades, and  in some cases, originality, ie those who revolutionized a position. But after narrowing it down, here are the top 10 defensive players in Chicago Bears history.
