2. Mike Singletary
Samurai Mike was the leader of the Bears defense for over a decade. Singletary wasn’t the flashiest player- he wasn’t a pass rusher, he didn’t make crazy athletic plays, and he wasn’t in-your-face. He was simply the perfect middle linebacker.
He read the offense and knew exactly where the play was headed. He shed blockers with a simple forearm shiver and was always around the ball. When the quarterback lined up under center and saw those eyes staring back at him, he knew he was in for a long day.
Singletary earned a spot in 10 Pro Bowls, was first-team All-Pro eight times, second-team once, he was a member of the 1980s all-decade team and defensive player of the year twice. As an added bonus, he was the best defensive player on the greatest defense of all-time. He is a true Chicago Bear legend.
