Should we start the HJQ nickname yet? Hold off? No? Okay, we’re rolling with it. HJQ came back with vengeance, and delivered a spectacular performance on Sunday versus the Buccaneers.

HJQ has rebounded nicely since the early season and one must ask themselves if there if something about this player that may make him stick as a starter.

Standing at 5’11” and weighing in at 215 pounds, Jones-Quartey does not have elite measurables. His college career was not extremely prolific while at Findlay, a division II program.

However, HJQ does play with something that can not be taught – an edge. HJQ plays the game with a chip on his shoulder and it shows. Consistently being physical and aggressive on the field is something that Bears coaches have noticed.

Rumblings were heard around the league that Arizona was upset that the Bears were able to snag HJQ off of waivers late in preseason.

Jones-Quartey was regarded highly for his play this past Sunday by Pro Football Focus. HJQ graded out as the highest rated player on the Bears defense with a +3.3.

HJQ performing well could potentially lead to the release of veteran Antrel Rolle. Rolle was signed to a 3-year contract this past offseason, but has been unable to stay healthy.

If HJQ continues playing at a high level the Bears may have finally found the dynamic duo that they have lacked for so many years at the safety position.
