  1. The falsely reported Jim McMahon story in New Orleans

This was another story that felt like I had heard it once before but completely had forgotten about it. I remember the “Rozelle” headband well. I remember McMahon mooning the helicopter and the media during Super Bowl week, but what I hadn’t remembered is the threats McMahon received after a New Orleans television station falsely reported that McMahon had called the women of New Orleans sluts and the men stupid.

Perhaps the television station was just looking for some publicity or perhaps they didn’t properly check their sources. Who knows, perhaps McMahon said it but they didn’t have any evidence that he did. Regardless, this was an interesting side story from Super Bowl week and one I didn’t remember, nor did I realize how angry the people of New Orleans became at McMahon leading up to that game.
