This man better be Pace’s number one target. There are too many reasons to list why Trevathan is the perfect fit for the Bears but I will give it a shot.

Trevathan is young, talented and only getting better. He was an impact player on a defense that was the best in the league. He knows John Fox and loves John Fox and has already gone on record in saying that he expects the Bears to speak with him in free agency.

The Bears linebacking corps is a mess. McPhee is an excellent addition and a building block for the future. The other three positions are question marks, not something you can have in a Fangio 3-4 defense where the linebackers are critical. The Bears need a reliable inside linebacker that can tackle and be on the field for all three downs and Trevathan is that guy.

Pace also likes to raid teams that have salary cap issues and Von Miller is the Broncos top priority right now. If the Bears miss out on Trevathan it will be a hit for this team in terms of making competitive strides in 2016.

If Pace manages to sign Trevathan and Jenkins and then puts together another nice draft class the Bears could jump from a 6-10 team up towards 8-8 or 9-7, and if the ball bounces right, maybe even 10-6. Free agency is just a few days away, it’s time for Ryan Pace to shine.
