The chances of Matt Forte signing with the enemy north of the Wisconsin- Illinois border may be taking a few giant steps that direction. Reports have surfaced that Forte’s former Chicago Bears’ teammate, Julius Peppers, has contacted Forte and is making a strong push to have him sign with Peppers’ current team, the Green Bay Packers.

The source of this news is ESPN’s Rob Demovsky who is very plugged into the Packers and the NFC North. That’s not to say that Forte is certainly headed to Green Bay, but Forte has made it clear that he wants to play for a contender and being a workhorse isn’t a high priority. Forte may have some concerns about having enough attention in the backfield with Eddie Lacy and James Starks, but Mike McCarthy isn’t stupid, if he has a player with Forte’s skill set on the roster, he’s going to make sure he’s involved in the offensive game plan.

No Bears fan wants to see Forte sign with Green Bay, but if the Packers make him feel wanted and he feels he can win a championship in Green Bay, he very well may had to Wisconsin. It’ll be tough for Bears’ fans to be too upset, after all, Forte said all along that he wanted to stay with the Bears and it was our franchise that told him to find a new team.

The Bears are going to be very active the next few days and Bears fans will have plenty to monitor, but from a personal standpoint, keeping an eye on Forte and where he ends up will also be very interesting.
