USU football: Kyler Fackrell named Mountain West Defensive Player of the Week | Deseret News
10.)Kyler Fackrell– Utah State
Kyler Fackrell was pretty dominate for Utah State even though he didn’t have the sack numbers a guy with his talent should have. Has length, and good speed. A natural bender with a pretty good pass rush arsenal of moves. Uses his hands well, but could be better. Has the frame to maybe get up to 260 pounds without losing a stitch of his athleticism. Some people might think the tall edge rusher might be drafted higher. However despite the profile that he can be a very good Edge rusher (NFL.com compared him to Philadelphia Eagle OLB Connor Barwin) the low sack totals place on my sleeper list.
Aside from that his other stats were rock solid for a defensive end. This excerpt from Buffalo Bills blog site building the herd.
"Despite missing the 2014 season with an ACL injury, Kyler Fackrell finished his collegiate career with 251 tackles, 36 tackles for loss, 12 sacks, 23 hurries, five forced fumbles, four pass breakups and four interceptions—one of which he returned for a touchdown."
As you can see he’s very well-rounded. Has an all around game although his aggressiveness can take him out of run plays as he can overrun and is susceptible to cut backs. Those things can be corrected with the right coaching staff like the Bears have in place. He also dropped into coverage quite a bit, and showed the ability to cover. Fackrell can go anywhere from round 4 to un-drafted. He has been a bit of a late riser after his excellent Combine/pro day workouts. Despite playing primarily at defensive end he profiles best as an OLB at the next level, and should do well there judging by the linked measureables. Needs to add more muscle as many young collegians do entering the NFL. Besides the raw measureables he moved well in drills as both a defensive end and an outside linebacker in pre-draft workouts, but his frame resembles that of a 3-4 OLB.
