PLAYER OVERVIEW:

Joe Walker Oregon-Extremely athletic with ideal size to play either SAM or WILL 3-4 ILB. Led the Ducks in tackles and had some of his best efforts against top teams. Virtually unknown until his eye-opening pro day. Wasn’t even invited to the combine. Should be drafted day 3 and be an excellent value there. Fangio should be able to do a lot of things with him. Has the frame to maybe even put on more muscle and play a little OLB if needed or in sub sets.

MEASUREABLES AND PRODUCTION:

As previously mention Walker is a superb athlete which may make him an even better pro than collegian. Had good production in his senior season, but career wise his production doesn’t match his physical skill set. To see his pro day results click here.  For his stats and Bio click here.

SCOUTING REPORT:

Positives: Plays with excellent athleticism without being out of control. Plays his role well and is assignment sound. Scraps down the line of scrimmage to find the open lane and fill. Text book tackler who rarely has mis-tackles. has good man coverage skills, and plays with intelligence in zone. Re-routes tight ends and running backs before going into his drops.

Negatives: Does not play with physicality and nastiness. This may hurt his chances in making a team as these traits may hurt him on getting noticed on special teams by the coaching staff. If he somehow finds that edge needed he will be a no brainer add on the roster or the Bears special teams. Needs to develop strength to fend off lockers and drive back running backs when he fills a hole.
