PLAYER OVERVIEW:

Kolby Listenbee-TCU- Kolby Listenbee is a track star who happens to play football. He’s not as polished on the gridiron as he is on the track field which brings a little concern, but he is now fully invested in his new career as an NFL receiver, so that may change. He will be drafted. How long he remains will be entirely up to him as he has the size and speed to stay and star in the NFL.

MEASUREABLES AND PRODUCTION:

As I covered Listenbee’s calling card is and will be his speed. Ran very fast with a 4.39 40 at the combine and than decided to run at his pro day anyway and ran faster at 4.34. Also had explosive jump measureables. Had fairly good production for someone who devoted as much time if not more so to track and field as he did to football. His school page can be reached here.

SCOUTING REPORT:

Positives: Speed, speed, and more speed. If you’re the Bears that’s the allure here. Did not show ideal all in traits splitting time between track and field as well as football, but perhaps as a professional football field and giving it full devotion perhaps he can be. Has good size and explosive leaping ability, so he is a guy that will threaten the second and third levels of the defense and will force defenses to give him special attention in the game planning room, practice field, and on game day. He can win with speed by outrunning the coverage.

Negatives: Although fast he doesn’t show sharp cutting ability. This hurts him in his route running. Now perhaps that can be cleaned up by a pro coaching staff and a lot of devotion to honing his craft. There is no doubt about it Listenbee has a lot of work to do, but if his work ethic is up to snuff he’ll be that guy that can take the top off the Bears desperately need and currently lack.
