Chicago Bears: Predicted Roles for 2016 Draft Picks
CB/S Deiondre Hall, Norther Iowa, Fourth Round (127th):
Just when you thought Pace was done adding pieces to the Bears’ secondary, he went and chose Deiondre Hall three picks after drafting Bush. Hall was a four-year starter for the Northern Iowa Panthers at both cornerback and safety. The 6-foot-2, 199-pounder is familiar with playing in a 3-4 scheme, which should make his transition from the collegiate to the professional level a bit smoother. Although he did play dual positions in college, Hall is probably better fit to play safety. However, his size could persuade defensive coordinator Vic Fangio to see what he can do at corner opposite Kyle Fuller. If that does work out, then Tracy Porter could be moved to the slot.
Such a move could greatly benefit a Bears’ secondary that recorded only four interceptions in 2015. Hall proved to be a ballhawk at Northern Iowa, finishing his career with 13 interceptions, four of which he returned for touchdowns.
Along with Bush and the several other safeties on the roster, Hall will have to prove himself on special teams in order to find a place on the 53-man roster after the preseason.
