In this still, Bullard plays a two man game with his LDE by rushing up-field and engaging with the RG. As you can see from this view their defense is in the very popular 4-2-5 sub set formation. As the ball is snapped Bullard is taken by the RG on a man blocking assignment.

The LDE loops in behind Bullard putting the RT in a position to make a decision. Meanwhile the RDE is closing in on the quarterbacks left and the LDE is heading straight for the QB which leaves the Quarterback with the option of sliding to his right to escape after his initial read is taken away from him with good press coverage by the LCB.

The LT chooses to take on Bullard rather than sliding behind his RG and re-engaging the LDE. That was the wrong decision to make. He forces his RG to come off Bullard and try and block the LDE which he lunges at late allowing the LDE to get deep penetration into the backfield forcing the quarterback to his right and in front of the oncoming Bullard’s path.

Meanwhile the LT has a bad angle on Bullard and can’t get in front of him and it’s an easy rush up-field riding the LT into the back field with him and right into the quarterbacks path. Resulting in a sack by Bullard.
