Chicago Bears Kevin White And Alshon Jeffery Might Be The NFL’s Most Productive Wide Receiver Duo in 2016.
Looking out on the practice field in Bourbonnais at the Chicago Bears 2015 training camp field on the campus of Olivet Nazarene University and seeing the two tall, long-armed, big-handed Bears wide outs side by side, it doesn’t take a football genius to see one of the league’s great wide receiver duos ready to emerge. Their talents are obvious and impossible to stop individually let alone when both of these monster wide receivers are out on the field running routes in tandem.

Unfortunately it never had the chance to come to fruition as Kevin White was knocked out for the season with a stress fracture before it started, and then Alshon Jeffery suffered through a season marred by nagging muscle pulls and limited him to a meager 9 games with 8 starts. Without their two stud wide receivers playing together last season (and you can even throw in slot receiver Eddie Royal to the mix) it’s no wonder the Bears struggled to score points on offense and ended the season with the 11th worst record in the league.
That’s why this season is one of the most anticipated seasons in recent history as it appears the Bears are headed in a winning direction that looks like it can be sustained for a long time. The thought of it being spearheaded by these two enormously talented players may be short-lived as there are questions as to Jeffery’s dedication to the Chicago Bears. Not only will that not fly with this regime, who have sent some high-profile players who have not shown complete team dedication packing , but Jeffery himself has been speculated by many to not be crazy about continuing his career in Chicago.
However as Akiro “The Wizard” once said, “But that is a story for another time.”
At least for one season it does appear we will be privy to this dynamic duo catching soaring spirals and frozen ropes through the swirling winds off Lake Michigan howling across the Chicago lakefront from the powerful arm of Bears quarterback Jay Cutler. Both making big plays downfield and in stride with mighty YAC and RAC numbers through a variety of routes, there will be check downs, first downs and touchdowns. Check with me’s, hot reads and sight adjustments. An orgasmic aerial assault not seen in these parts since…well…never.
Forget about the improved defense and the improved special teams. Forget about the brutal power running attack the Bears are gearing up unleash on the league. Forget about all the other weapons they have to occupy the defenses around the NFL helping them to get one on one match-ups to manipulate in their favor.
No just the spectacle of these two finely tuned machines running crisp sharp routes and high pointing 50/50 balls alone is enough to scratch that itch for a prolific passing game. No sophisticated offensive schemes or deceptive formations and route concepts are necessary to get production out of these two. Simply call the simplest of pass routes, drop back and let it go in their direction and watch these two work like the two thoroughbred athletes they are.
