Plenty of analysts will have Floyd as more of a sure bet than this, especially considering the fact that he was a first round pick. But Floyd is not a sure thing. He has a very lanky frame and needs to bulk up to handle the physicality of the NFL game. There is a chance when Floyd bulks up that he loses his explosiveness and quickness and that’s what separates him from other edge rushers.

If that happens, Floyd will have to go back to his current playing weight, and he may get pushed around if that happens. That’s not to say Floyd is going to be a bust. He has tremendous upside and could become a dominant pass rusher that tallies double digit sacks most years. But Floyd is a project and isn’t NFL-ready and when you draft a player like that, there is always a chance that they never develop into the player you expect them to be.

The Bears have great coaches surrounding Floyd, as long as he doesn’t lose his quickness when he puts on weight, you can expect him to develop into a very good pass rusher and really come into his own around 2018.
