3. Deiondre Hall, DB, Fourth Round, Northern Iowa
Deiondre Hall has the potential to contribute as either a cornerback or safety. He has some unique physical skills that could make him tremendous in pass coverage. Combine that with the fact that he is a defensive back that doesn’t shy away from contact and will put the helmet on the ball and force some fumbles and he could become a very complete player.
Hall has long arms that can help him defend passes and has great instincts to get jumps on the ball and intercept passes. Hall’s problem is that he isn’t very fast as a corner and because of it, doesn’t have much in terms of closing speed. If Hall gets beat off the line, the other team is going to be able to torch him for big yardage gains.
Hall needs to develop keen instincts and tremendous footwork if he’s going to overcome the fact that he doesn’t have ideal speed as a corner, and if he doesn’t and the Bears decide to try him at safety, he currently doesn’t have the strength to handle that position either. Hall will take some development to become a high-caliber defensive back, the Bears coaching staff is going to have to work with him closely to see if they can help him achieve that level.
