McPhee was banged up for portions of the season last year and missed some time because of it. That resulted in him having his knee operated on during the offseason. McPhee wasn’t ready to be on the field during OTAs and minicamp and the Bears are also questioning if he will be ready for the start of training camp.

This isn’t exactly the best news. While there is no reason to panic, it’s not great that McPhee who struggled with injuries last season, may not be ready for training camp. If McPhee has any setbacks, suddenly the start of the regular season is also in jeopardy.

Last year was McPhee’s first opportunity to be an every down player and he was banged up as a result. Hopefully 2015 proves just to be a stroke of unfortunate luck and that he will get healthy and stay healthy. McPhee proved he’s an impact player and the Bears need him on the field if the defense is going to make the strides this year that everyone is hoping they can make.
