To help us get geared up for the start of the 2016 Chicago Bears season, we’re previewing the Bears opponents and check in on their offseason moves.  Since the Bears vs Texans is the first game on the slate, we sent our Five Questions to Randy Gurzi from Toro Times to see how the Texans offseason has gone so far.

1. The Texans biggest offseason move brought Brock Osweiler to town to stabilize the quarterback position.  How does Osweiler change the Texans’ offense?

He gives them something they haven’t had in years, stability.  For the first time in about three years they enter the season with an unquestioned starter, which gives him and his teammates some confidence there.

He also brings in a guy who works hard and is teachable. Plus he is still young and has a cannon for an arm, which is great considering all the speed around him now.

1b. While adding Osweiler, the Texans dumped Brian Hoyer, who ends up as Jay Cutler’s backup with the Bears.  If Cutler goes down, what can the Bears expect from Hoyer?  Can he keep the Bears afloat if Cutler goes down?

Brian Hoyer isn’t a bad quarterback, but don’t say that around Texans fans. They’re bitter at how the year ended, which is understandable considering how bad he played in their playoff loss. Still, in small doses he is more than capable and honestly really didn’t play bad last regular season.

He’s a great backup because he has the experience and also has shown that he can still sling it after a bad play. Sure it resulted in multiple picks against the Chiefs, but hey he kept fighting and that’s a plus.
