Biggest Boom or Bust Potential: Running Back

The group with the biggest potential for either a boom or a bust season is the running back position.  Here’s another caveat to go with this position group.  It’s hard to call a group that lost a former Pro Bowl performer in Matt Forte as a strong group, but this group has the potential to shine in John Fox’s running back by committee style that he’s had such success with in Carolina and Denver.

Atop the running back depth chart is second year pro Jeremy Langford, who racked up 537 yards and six TD’s on the ground while understudying for Forte.  Langford is handed the torch so he’d better not fumble it.

Behind Langford, former Phil Emery draftee Ka’Deem Carey gets a shot as the backup.  His bruising style seems to suit the kind of offenses that Fox run in the past.  Veteran Jacquizz Rodgers sits third on the depth chart.  His pass blocking and his special teams skills will be a key to try to fend off rookie Jordan Howard and former special teams standout Senorise Perry.
