The Chicago Bears performance in the first preseason game of the season was rather rough, but there are definitely some positives to point out.
The Chicago Bears opened their preseason on Thursday night with a 22-0 loss at the hands of the Denver Broncos. The Bears were flat on offense and at times, porous on defense. The offensive line couldn’t open up holes for the running backs and couldn’t protect any of the quarterbacks.
That doesn’t mean everything about the game was a complete disaster. It’s only preseason and a lot can happen between now and September 11th when the Bears face the Houston Texans. Rather than focus on what went wrong, it’s time to look at who looked sharp.
One name you will not see on here is Leonard Floyd. Floyd just missed out on making the top five performers. He made two tackles, showed some athleticism and even showed that he could be an asset against the run as well. While, he didn’t really make any impact plays, he showed that his development into a defensive asset could be a lot sooner than later. Many people did not expect that during his rookie season.
Perhaps Floyd will make the standout list as preseason progresses, but for he will have to wait for another week. Here are five Bears’ performances that stood out during the loss to the Broncos.
