The Bears’ corps of linebackers did their job in defending both the run and the pass. Once again, they were led by Jerrell Freeman’s seven tackles, one of which came on a second-and-goal. On the ensuing play, John Timu, who was just brought up from the practice squad, made one of the most important plays of the game with a perfectly timed blitz up the middle, preventing the Lions from getting in the end zone and settling for a field goal.
