2. The Colts cut ties with a couple of defensive starters by releasing veteran cornerback

Antonio Cromartie and linebacker Sio Moore. What’s up with the move? Who can the Bears expect to see from the Colts defense?

Cromartie was always going to be a rental due to injuries in the secondary. With Vontae Davis, Patrick Robinson, and now Darius Butler all healthy the Colts don’t really have a spot for Cromartie anymore. Couple that with a truly terrible performance against the Jaguars (including a series of penalties and a touchdown on a single drive) and it wasn’t surprising they let him go.

Moore was starting at inside linebacker, but the Colts were using a heavy rotation. Moore has been flat out bad to start the season. He can’t cover or finish tackles, both of which are pretty important at the position. This must mean the Colts have confidence in one of the younger players, but it just beats home the fact that they should have re-signed Jerrell Freeman.
