1) Ground out a win

With the comeback against Green Bay in hand, many expected Matt Barkley to shoulder the load for the Chicago Bears. Unfortunately, a five-interception performance on Christmas Eve has likely brought that notion to an end. It’s time for the Bears to return to the gift that keeps on giving, Jordan Howard. With 1178 yards on the year, Howard is just 61 yards away from breaking the Bears’ rookie rushing record. Records aside, Howard’s success has often parlayed into the Bears success on offense. Chicago has yet to lose when Howard receives the ball more than 20 times in a contest.

Moreover, the last time Chicago played Minnesota, Howard almost singlehandedly willed the offense up and down the field. The rookie accumulated over 200 all-purpose yards with 153 of them coming on the ground. Minnesota’s defense is a far cry from the dominant force that took the field in the beginning of the season. Between injuries and declining play, Howard’s matchup appears to lean greatly in Chicago’s favor.

Despite great statistics and a great yards per carry average, Howard is seldom used within the 10 yard line. Chicago opted to pass on multiple red zone possessions this season instead of leaning on their feature back. This must change if the Bears are to win this game.

For the Bears to earn this key, they must give Howard 20 total touches.
