Meet the new members of the Chicago Bears’ coaching staff.

The Chicago Bears recently hired three new coaches.  Each was an interesting hire for a variety of reasons.  Here are their respective names and titles:

  • Brandon Staley – Outside Linebackers (OLB) Coach
  • Zach Azzanni – Receivers Coach
  • Derius Swinton – Special Teams Assistant

First of all, Staley’s obvious focus is Leonard Floyd.  He needs to work with Floyd and develop a lethal pass-rusher that warrants such a high draft pick.  If Staley is successful, Floyd and the rest of the OLB group will create havoc on opposing QBs, get sacks, cause hurried throws, bad decisions, and, hopefully, a bunch of interceptions.

Much like Staley, a single player should get a lot of Azzanni’s attention.  If Kevin White can run like his timed forty, and not like a person who is forty, then Azzanni may be half way there.  He may just get the credit for a comeback player of the year candidate, a 1st round pick that many have given up on.

As for Swinton, he needs to do whatever he can to restore the Bears into a team that has a decent special teams unit.  He needs to improve a special teams unit that has fallen hard since Dave Toub left town.

It’s time to meet the new staff:
