Meet Zach Azzanni , the new Receivers Coach.

Hell yeah, I was shocked.

Zach Azzanni is replacing Curtis Johnson, who did wonders with Cameron Meredith and bolted to New Orleans after the Senior Bowl.  Azzanni didn’t even know he was under consideration, and he was pretty surprised by the offer.  Based upon his reputation with many others, however, perhaps he shouldn’t have been that surprised.

Urban Meyer had the following to say about Azzanni:

"“He is a tireless worker, relentless recruiter, and a great teacher of fundamentals"

Upon listening to him hype up his players, it becomes immediately clear he’s a great speaker.  His staccato motivations sound like he’s memorized a self-help book co-authored by famous coaches.

“Lead the country in effort and toughness.”

“Stop watching the play!  Buy a ticket!”

“Flat-footed corners, please play cover-2.  I’m going to put my helmet under your chin and split your face open!”

“You have plenty of time to run the route; our offensive line holds almost as much as the Green Bay Packers.”

OK, so that last one is made up, but his delivery, as well as his attention to detail and technique, is very impressive to watch.

As an added bonus, Azzanni was instrumental in the collegiate success of Antonio Brown while at Central Michigan.  He appears to be the complete package and should make Bear fans excited.
