ESPN will debut a documentary entitled, “We the Fans,” that follows Chicago Bears fans around for a season.
One thing we all know as Chicago Bears’ fans is that life as a Bears’ fan certainly isn’t easy. Now the rest of the sports world will learn about our woe. ESPN is set to air a new multipart documentary entitled, “We the Fans,” that will follow around Bears’ fans for an entire season.
The documentary will specifically follow season ticket holders from section 250 in Soldier Field. The series will be eight parts long and debut on April 11th. Below is a trailer for the series.
Whether ESPN will be able to draw in viewers to watch an eight-part series on Bears’ fans is the first note that sports media critics mention and that is a fair point. Watching fans watch a losing team isn’t going to be of much interest, so expect ESPN to really play up the human element and dive into the lives of these fans and how their fandom affects their day-to-day lives.
ESPN isn’t going to play up these individuals as Bears’ fans, but more of hardcore fans that fans of any team can relate to. This is the first multipart documentary ESPN has done since their OJ: Made in America series. Being that won an Oscar, they’ve set the bar pretty high.
ESPN released a press release about the series providing any details anyone would like to know about the series. It includes the schedule so you can set your DVRs:

I’m sure Bears’ fans across Chicago will be thrilled to re-live the pain of the 2016 season, but any fans that watch this series will certainly know one thing- you aren’t alone. Bears’ fans are in this misery together.
