The Bears are just like any other NFL team.  Injuries to key players can knock them out of playoff contention or sink them to the lower depths of the league.  That’s exactly what happened to Chicago in 2016.  They sunk lower than they had been in years.  Sure, there were other reasons why they struggled but injuries were probably the biggest of those reasons.

Some of the injured players won’t be back in 2017.  Ego Ferguson has been cut. Brian Hoyer is with another team while Eddie Royal could get let go at any time.  Some of the injured guys will be counted on to help bring this team back to prominence.  It will be important to get Zach Miller, Danny Trevethan and Eddie Goldman back.  They must be healthy and ready to go.

Hopefully, Chicago will have success staying healthy in 2017 so they can win more games.  After what happened in 2016, Chicago should adjust their training and performance programs to help eliminate some of the smaller and more controllable injuries.  Good weight lifting regimens, as well as nutrition programs, could help prevent at least some of the injuries that cost the team playing time last season.

This team, with the right players and a good draft, could surprise many experts and fans next season.  Let’s see how they do in 2017.
