Round 1, 3rd overall- Jamal Adams, Safety, LSU
By all intents and purposes, this sure seemed like the smart pick for the Chicago Bears. Adams comes from a football family and has been surrounded by the likes of Bill Parcells and Michael Irvin since he was a toddler.
Adams is a born leader and a has a nose to make the big play. He’s the type of quarterback on defense that the Bears needed and could make an impact from day one. Adams would have stepped in and started immediately and could have been a key cog in bringing back the “Monsters of the Midway.”
It’s no question that the Bears need a quarterback, so the bold move to get Trubisky makes sense, but if you miss with the third (now second) overall pick on a quarterback that wasn’t that highly regarded, you’ve hurt your team on multiple levels. Adams was a safe pick and one that would have helped the team immediately.
