You can talk about individual position battles and how the new free agents look, but for this team, the conversation must start with health. The Bears were devastated by injuries last season. They were a regular MASH unit and the injuries piled up week after week.

While most teams wouldn’t be able to recover from the amount of injuries the Bears suffered, the Bears didn’t have the depth to combat this issue at all. While a healthy Bears team wasn’t about to go 11-5 last season, they certainly would have been more competitive.

For the Bears to take strides this season, their key players have to stay on the field. That means Eddie Goldman, Kevin White, Danny Trevathan, all of them. The Bears simply can’t have another season like last year or they won’t be able to evaluate the talent they have.

The players can show at minicamp that they have put last season’s injuries behind them and focus on staying on the field and winning games in 2017.
