2. Defensive Backs

It’s not out of the realm of possibility that all four defensive back positions in the Bears’ base defense are new faces this year. Last year’s secondary left a lot to be desired. Ryan Pace spent most of the free agency period reworking his corners and safeties.

The expectation is that Marcus Cooper and Prince Amukamara will be starting at each cornerback spot and that Quintin Demps will be at a safety slot. While incumbent Adrian Amos has an excellent shot at retaining his position, his lack of playmaking ability has the Bears concerned. Deiondre Hall will have a shot to win the job at safety and the Bears really like what rookie Eddie Jackson brings to the table.

There are plenty of other question marks surrounding the defensive backfield. Will Kyle Fuller make the team and play at a high level? Will Deon Bush recover from a very quiet rookie season? Can Bryce Callahan go back to thriving at the slot corner?

There are so many question marks in the secondary you could make a 12 article series about it. But minicamp will be our first glimpse at the new secondary and if they will be vastly improved in 2017.
