Chicago Bears: Five MiniCamp Storylines
1. Mitch Trubisky
Forget Mike Glennon, at the quarterback position, all eyes will be on Mitch Trubisky. Sure, how Glennon performs is interesting. The Bears have handed the reigns of the offense to Glennon and he needs to play well if the Bears are going to make strides into becoming a competitive football team this season. However, focusing on Glennon is short-sided.
The Bears future is Mitch Trubisky. The Bears have hitched their wagon to this kid and if they are going to become a legitimate Super Bowl contender in the next few years, it’s going to be thanks to Trubisky, not Glennon.
Trubisky’s first few practices in a Bears’ uniform were met with rave reviews, but now he will have more opportunities including some with the first team offense. We’ll see Trubisky get some game action in the preseason, and while we’ll almost certainly see him receive some regular season game action at some point nobody has any idea when that will be, including Ryan Pace and John Fox.
Trubisky needs to continue to improve every time he’s on the practice field, so seeing how he does during minicamp is our next opportunity to critique the kid and see if he’s headed on the right track.
