Careful examination of the roster can tell us what is being planned for the 2017 Chicago Bears from an offensive standpoint. The signing of TE Dion Sims shows us that RB Jordan Howard will be asked to make his sophomore year as memorable as last year. Coming out of Michigan State, Sims was labeled the best blocking TE in his class. That did not change while in Miami as he never caught more than 26 passes in any year. We should not expect him to do much more than that in Chicago either. Last year the Bears did not have a blocking TE to count on in short yardage situations. Couple Sims with the signing of FB Michael Burton, formerly of the Lions, who himself says he does “the dirty work” the image of a hard-nosed run attack to go along with one of the better interior lines and a talented young running back could be a sign of things to come.
