3. Remixed Receivers

By now the sting of losing Alshon Jeffrey to the Eagles should be over. It sure looked like Ryan Pace and Co. did not make serious offers to Jeffrey for him to take his one year prove it deal with the Eagles. We will have to wait until after the season to see the real winner of that decision. For now, though, the Bears brought in lots of new bodies to replace both Jeffrey and Eddie Royal. Although the latter shouldn’t be hard to replace since he barely could stay healthy during his time with the Bears.

This position is probably one of the hardest to figure out for the Bears with all the signings. Kendall Wright, Markus Wheaton, and Victor Cruz all have one thing in common. They are trying to revive their careers after suffering injuries that set them back. In the case of Wright, he may bring the most immediate impact since he is rejoining offensive coordinator Dowell Loggains after working together in 2014 where he had over 90 catches for 1000 yards.

Wheaton brings undeniable speed to the team and the ability to play special teams.

The real treasure would be if Cruz can get back to his pre-injury form when he averaged 80 receptions for 1206 yards and 7 TDs from 2011 to 2013. He is more than capable of making Bears fans forget Jeffrey. Lastly, Kevin White gets back into the action (again) with the bust label looming large over his head. We can expect to get as much from him as possible as it’s most likely his last chance to perform with the Bears.
