The Chicago Bears Top 5 Reasons for Optimism

5. The Walking Wounded Return
What could be the most impactful thing to happen to the Bears is just rest and getting healthy. After having a league leading 19 players finish the season on injured reserve there is no doubt the team was banged up.
There is no team in the NFL that could sustain 19 players on IR and still expect to compete. Simply with a healthy team in the stadium, one could expect an improved team. Now add to that the additions from free agency and the draft it’s reasonable to assume the Bears will be more than competitive.
Even when the team was losing bad Coach John Fox still had command of the team, unlike former Coach Marc Trestman. Guys want to play for Fox and it’s obvious on Sundays.
While many people are unconvinced by the changes the Bears have made there is still reason for optimism coming into the season. If a few of the ‘prove it’ players are a hit and the injuries stay low. There is no doubt the Bears can field a competitive team that may do more than shock a few sports writers and fans too.
