Five Bears From 2016 who may get cut in 2017
Which Bears players from 2016 may get cut in 2017?
The Bears roster has seen a lot of change since the move to Ryan Pace as General Manager. The roster is almost completely his now. Of course, the roster will be ever-changing and given where the Bears were last season plenty of moves were to be made. It means names that we saw last season will no longer be with the team moving forward. While some players were already let go via free agency, there are probably a few familiar names who will get the ax this summer. So who are the five players from the 2016 Bears most likely to get cut?
5. C.J. Wilson
Wilson was only active for six games and was cut and re-signed throughout the season. He was an emergency depth piece with the injury to Eddie Goldman depleting the unit. He started in one game and put up a sack and 13 tackles.
Of course, the first reason that the Bears should hope to cut Wilson would be the fact that Goldman is healthy again. On top of that, the Bears signed Jaye Howard and John Jenkins to bring in competition. Mitch Unrein and Jonathan Bullard were ahead of him in the rotation last season, and nothing Wilson did in those six games should change that mindset. Add in Akiem Hicks, and there are already six players who should get snaps over Wilson.
The team also signed Kapron Lewis-Moore who has more upside than Wilson, which could push him to eight in the pecking order. It likely would be the best case for the Bears, but not for Wilson that he is cut in 2017.
