Sure, you bring in free agents with the hope of them being a starter. However, the way the Bears brought in their wide receiver free agents was throwing darts and hoping that one of them sticks.

The only Bears signed on past this season is Kevin White and Markus Wheaton. Cameron Meredith came along late last season and most would think in a perfect world those are the team’s top three wide receivers this season.

However, beyond that is Victor Cruz, Rueben Randle, Daniel Braverman, Josh Bellamy and Wright all fighting to get into that group. Most would put their money on Cruz before Wright, but Wright should have a better chance of stealing the slot job. Wright is younger, more dynamic and does not have the injury history as bad as Cruz. He could very easily emerge and finish the season as one of the starters and one of the three leading wide receivers on the team.
