After a week of training camp, how has Kevin White looked entering his third year in the league?

Chicago Bears’ GM Ryan Pace looks like he has the ability to find talent in the draft. Pace has found talent early in the draft and in the middle rounds as well. Even a couple of his late picks have shown a little ability. Of all the talent he’s drafted, the biggest question mark still may be his first ever selection as Bears GM.

In 2015, Pace selected Kevin White out of West Virginia and thought he had a big playmaker on offense. Two years later, nobody knows what the Bears have in Kevin White because quite simply he can’t stay on the field.

After two major leg injuries, White has played in just four games over his first two seasons. It’s impossible to have any idea what White can be, the only assertion that can be made at this point is that he’s injury prone.

White appears to be recovered and enters his third season. How has he looked in training camp this far? Overall, things have been positive.

White, as Leming referenced, may no longer be the explosive receiver the Bears drafted him to be, but at this point, it’s no longer about hoping White becomes the next Randy Moss, at this point, White just needs to become a capable NFL receiver for Chicago that can have an 8 to 10 year career with a couple of seasons over 1000 yards.

Is that a disappointing career for a top ten pick? Probably. But when you’ve sustained this type of damage to your legs, it’s hard to maintain the athleticism and explosiveness you once had. White definitely has potential and the Bears certainly haven’t given up on him.

White has to stay on the field, another injury-marred season will basically end White’s career before it ever really started. If White can stay mostly healthy, hopefully the Bears will get a good look at him this preseason and regular season and really start to understand exactly what they have with him.
