The Bear Goggles On Countdown to Kickoff series is now underway. With 32 days to go until the Bears season kicks off, we will highlight cornerback Deiondre’ Hall.

2016 Review

2016 was definitely a learning year for Hall. Hall missed some time with an ankle injury and played in only eight games. He never started and recorded just one interception in his rookie season.

His offseason season was busy after an arrest over a bar fight occurred in March. On the field, the Bears decided to switch his position from cornerback to safety.

2017 Outlook

The Bears should not be surprised by his on field struggles as a rookie. Hall has the measurables of an NFL player but is not refined in a role yet. That is why the team can still shift him around the secondary. However, the move is going to take time. Early reports out of camp suggest he moves well but does not have the natural movement down yet. It may take a season on the practice squad, but some hype could begin to form around Hall after some work at safety.

Future with the Bears

The Bears keeping him after the arrest shows they have faith in him. He may be looking at a season on the practice squad, but he is definitely still in the longer term plans for the team in some way. Hall is under team control through 2019, and there is a great chance that Deiondre’ Hall will be sticking with the team for that period of time, and may wind up earning a longer term role, whether as a starter or reserve
