31 days until Chicago Bears 2017 season kicks off: Chris Prosinski profile
The Bear Goggles On Countdown to Kickoff series is now underway. With 31 days to go until the Bears season kicks off, we will highlight safety Chris Prosinski.
2016 Review
Last season was Prosinski’s second with the team. Prosinski has mainly been a special teams contributor throughout his seven-year career. However, due to the lack of depth and the injuries at the safety position, Prosinski has made six of his 15 career starts with the Chicago Bears. However, only one start came last season. He played 172 defensive snaps, but still put in 352 special teams snaps.
2017 Outlook
Prosinski is going to have to fight for a roster spot this season. The Bears drafted Eddie Jackson and signed Quintin Demps. That is not a good sign for an end of the roster player. The team has drafted Adrian Amos, Deiondre’ Hall, Deon Bush, Harold Jones-Quartey and Deandre Houston-Carson in the past three years. Notice how none of those players are Prosinski. The team should be able to turn one of those draftees into a decent special teamer so it may be the end of the line for Prosinski.

Future with the Bears
Prosinski has a dead cap of $80 thousand and is not signed on past this season. Therefore has no long term ties at all to the team. They are free to cut ties with him this season, and in the Bears best case scenario, he is a player they cut for younger, higher upside options. It will be through special teams, but it is a tough path to make it to the roster.
