Roy Robertson-Harris

One of the pleasant surprises from the Bears second preseason game was the emergence of defensive end Roy Robertson-Harris. Robertson-Harris showed up in a major way in the second half. He dominated the game, finishing with three tackles and two sacks.

Robertson-Harris is still a bit of an unknown and is deep down the depth chart on the roster. It would take a week two performance and then some in the next two weeks for him to get serious roster consideration. However, this performance cannot be taken away from him.

The reason Robertson-Harris saw so much playing time in week two had to do with Mitch Unrein and Akiem Hicks being held out. Both are expected to see some snaps in week three. Since the team wants to see more from their bigger names, the Bears should also be getting major snaps from Jon Bullard and Jaye Howard. This could mean that despite his huge performance in week two, Robertson-Harris finds himself playing fewer snaps the week later.

At the same time, it would be significant to see the Bears give him a major role. The Bears had to be intrigued at the least, and are going to be tempted to get him on the field.

How many snaps can Robertson-Harris play? Who is on the field when they are giving him those snaps? Can he make a significant impact? This is all worth watching.
