On a day with a lot of roster shuffling, the Bears report good news from Pernell McPhee

The Bears have been as active with household names as any team in the NFL. The team got rid of Jaye Howard, and Tanner Gentry, two players expected to make the 53-man roster. They also place Lamarr Houston on the IR in a surprising move. Even more surprising than that is that the team is going to take outside linebacker Pernell McPhee off of the PUP, placing him on the active roster.

McPhee was the let down of camp when he was placed on the PUP his first day in training camp. This would be the third straight season that a McPhee injury would derail a large portion of his season. However, now he not only is off of the PUP early, he is a potential candidate to play in week one.

To be placed on the PUP, you automatically will miss the first six games of the season. At the worst, the Bears see him back before that bar. The team moving on from Lamarr Houston in the same hour as the McPhee report means they could be correlated. The team could have gotten a rotational job from Houston, but are confident that it will come from McPhee sooner than later. Therefore, Houston is expendable and McPhee is on the roster.

It will be interesting to see what the team will do with Sam Acho and Dan Skuta given the news. Stay tuned.
