Atlanta at Chicago

September 10th

The 2016 NFC Champions will come into Soldier Field looking to start their campaign to try to help everyone forget their record collapse in the Super Bowl. The Falcons will boast one of the best offenses in the NFL and an improved defense that will look to shut opponents down. Could they be too much for the Bears to handle?

Chicago’s defense is still somewhat of a question mark especially in the secondary where injuries have taken their toll. But they are better than they were last season, especially at safety. If that same secondary can cover Atlanta’s receivers and keep them from monopolizing the game they will help the defense be competitive. Couple that with a strong pass rush from the front seven and the Bears will put up a good fight.

The Bears’ offense will struggle in this game. Quarterback Mike Glennon will be getting used to things but the biggest question on offense is, who he will throw the ball to.  The players at the wide receiver position will need someone to step up and be it’s number one guy. Who could do that?

Chicago may elect to run the ball more often to help take some of the pressure off Glennon and they should be able to have some success. Look for Jordan Howard to have a decent game against the Falcons.

However, if Atlanta keys in on the run, they could stop Howard forcing Glennon to try to win the game. If that happens, Chicago will struggle.

Don’t lose heart Bears fans. The Chicago Bears will get better. Atlanta is a tough team to start the season against but things will get better despite what will be a rocky and discouraging beginning.

Score Prediction: Atlanta 31 Chicago 13
