Bears’ Receiving Corps
Of course, the big news regarding this group is having not only Cameron Meredith on injured reserve (torn ACL), but Kevin White (fractured scapula) on there as well. Chicago’s receivers were pedestrian, at best, in their loss to the Falcons in Week 1. Now, they will once again have to find who will be their No. 1 guy in the passing game. All arrows appear to point to Kendall Wright, the only receiver on the Bears’ depth chart to have a 1,000-yard season in his career. Then there’s Markus Wheaton, who didn’t even play in the preseason due to a broken finger.
The one thing that has fans excited is the recent promotion of Tanner Gentry from the practice squad to the 53-man roster. Gentry was one of the consistent standouts in training camp. It’s uncertain of how much action he’ll see on offense, but looking at how thin it is with Chicago’s wide receivers, don’t be surprised to see the undrafted rookie quite a bit.
