Adam Shaheen

The Bears second-round draft pick has had his struggles early on. Depending on who you talk to or what you witnessed in training camp, it doesn’t appear as if Shaheen is ready to contribute. Granted, he has a significant learning curve coming from a Division II program. In the NFL, the players are bigger, things happen faster, and the offenses are much more complicated. It’s understandable that he is behind.

But, the Bears need all-hands-on-deck in the passing game so having Shaheen available and ready would be a plus. He is getting some work on special teams and he was in on at least two plays against the Buccaneers this past Sunday.

Now, if he can just continue to develop and get on the field quickly, that would be great.

But can he get on the field quickly?

The Bears certainly hope so.

When he’s ready, Shaheen could help create some mismatches with defenders thanks to his size. Standing at 6’6” 268 pounds, he could dominate almost any linebacker or safety trying to cover him. He just needs to learn how to handle things in the NFL and he will be able to contribute.

The sooner he can, the better.
