The depth chart for the Bears’ receiving corps has looked different week by week. Fan favorite Tanner Gentry had a very short stay on the 53-man roster, and Chicago is still in search for their No. 1 target in the passing game. Yes, all eyes will be on Kendall Wright and Deonte Thompson in the starting lineup, but the possible 2017 debut of Markus Wheaton could draw more attention. Wheaton didn’t play at all in the preseason, due to appendectomy surgery and a broken finger. The speedy five-year veteran did participate in practice this week, and can very well be active against his former team. However, with or without Wheaton, Chicago’s air attack will still be limited, and facing a Steelers defense that is fifth in defending the pass entering Week 3 will be a high mountain to climb.
