Bears’ Run Defense vs. Vikings’ Running Game

Entering Week 5, the Vikings had the league’s third-leading rusher in rookie Dalvin Cook. However, Minnesota will be without Cook’s services for the remainder of the season, due to a torn ACL. Chicago’s sixth-ranked run defense should be up for the task of stopping the Vikings’ ground game, but will potentially have to do so without a couple of their players in the center of their linebacker corps. We definitely know that Danny Trevathan will be inactive because of a one-game suspension that he must serve. Now, Nick Kwiatkoski, who’s listed as doubtful on the Bears’ injury report, may not be on the field due to a pectoral injury.

Backup inside linebackers Christian Jones and John Timu are slated to start in place of Trevathan and Kwiatkoski. Jones, Timu, and the rest of Chicago’s front seven will have to find a way to stop Vikings running back Latavius Murray, who will be starting in place of Cook.
