Quintin Demps returned to practice on Thursday, coming off of the Injured Reserved
The Chicago Bears got a bit of good news on Thursday. Quintin Demps, who was placed on the Injured Reserve back in Week Three, returned to practice for the first time. This officially means that the Chicago Bears have 21 days to decide whether to activate Demps, or keep him on the IR for the rest of the season.
Given that the team signed him to a multi-year contract, and that Adrian Amos is also dealing with injury, it makes sense that the Bears would want him back.
The Bears are allowed to bring two players back from the injured reserved list every season. Earlier in the year, Deiondre Hall returned, marking him as the first player to get back on the field. Now, we see Demps as the second and final player to come off of the season ending list.

The return of Demps does mean a little more than just the return of a starting safety, however. It also means that with two players back from the injured list that Kevin White’s season is officially over. This should be no surprise, though, given the extent of White’s injury and his past history with the team.
So while it is looking like the end is near for Kevin White, the hope is that the Bears at least get a couple of games to take a long, hard look at Demps before deciding what to do at safety this offseason. The team could commit to Demps, commit to Amos, or scrap the two altogether and go back to the drawing board. Time will tell.
