CHICAGO, IL – DECEMBER 04: Eddie Goldman /

Eddie Goldman, Florida State NT, 2nd round, 39th Overall

Grade: A

This selection will go down as the best selection Pace made in this draft. Eddie Goldman showed promise as a rookie, showed improvement in year two before being hampered by a high ankle sprain, and this season, Goldman has made another big leap into being an anchor of the Chicago Bears defense.

Goldman has shown the ability to split double teams and disrupt the running game and he’s also shown some ability to collapse the pocket and pressure opposing quarterbacks. Goldman has been a focal point of offensive coordinators all season long and has shown that he is without question a building block that needs to stay in a Bears’ uniform.

Goldman has another year under Bears’ control next season and the Bears would be wise to negotiate a contract extension and not allow him to test free agency when his time arrives after the 2018 season.
