CHICAGO, IL – AUGUST 13: Hroniss Grasu
CHICAGO, IL – AUGUST 13: Hroniss Grasu /

Hroniss Grasu, Oregon C, 3rd round, 71st Overall

Grade: D

Grasu was considered an excellent third round selection at the time. Most draft analysts thought the Bears did very well with this pick. But the reality is certainly different from the speculation in this case.

Grasu’s biggest knock against him is that he wasn’t strong enough to handle the NFL trenches and that hasn’t changed three years into his career. He had a very rocky up and down rookie season but showed a little promise towards the end of 2015. His second season was missed due to an ACL injury and he lost his starting job permanently that season to rookie Cody Whitehair.

This season, Grasu came in as a backup and when the door opened for him to play, he did not take advantage of the situation. He gets no drive off the ball and can’t hold his ground in pass protection either. If the Bears improve their offensive line depth in 2018, Grasu will probably be released prior to the season.
