Re-Grading Ryan Pace’s First Draft Class
UDFAs- Bryce Callahan, Rice CB; John Timu, Washington LB; Cameron Meredith, Illinois St WR
Grade: A+
Even more impressive than the selections of Eddie Goldman and Adrian Amos was Pace’s work on UDFAs. He managed to land Callahan and Meredith who are both potentially major contributors to the Bears moving forward. Callahan has become one of the best slot corners in the NFL and Meredith showed tremendous ability last season emerging as the Bears top wide receiver, even with Alshon Jeffery on the roster.
John Timu has also shown he is a legitimate rotational linebacker and could be the main ILB sub for the team in 2018. Many teams don’t land any players that stick with the 53-man roster. The Bears have three (if Meredith was healthy) just from this class alone.
