The Chicago Bears and San Francisco 49ers clash at Soldier Field on Sunday in a matchup with more draft position implications than anything else. It’s unlikely that the 1-10 Niners go on a run that would move them into position to draft a lot lower than the top three or four again.

The big storyline will be the debut of the Niners new quarterback and Chicago area native Jimmy Garoppolo and the matchup against Mitch Trubisky. The Niners acquired Garoppolo from the New England Patriots around the trade deadline. A lot of people thought the Patriots would have traded Garoppolo around the draft or during the offseason, so he was on a lot of Bears fans radars. We’ll get our first look at him as Niners starter.
About this time last season, the Niners descended on Soldier Field and the Bears were able to power their way to a 26-6 win behind three Jordan Howard touchdown runs.
