The Ups and Downs of General Manager Ryan Pace
Pace has had his good moments drafting players. It’s hard to judge his draft picks right now because some of them are just starting to show something. However, there has been some positive draft picks who have helped the Bears out almost immediately since Pace started drafting. The player with the biggest impact has been Jordan Howard. Howard was a real find in the 5th round and has been the Bears’ best offensive player in the last two seasons.
Pace really hit on him.

Some of the other solid draft picks Pace has had in this three years of drafting include Leonard Floyd, Adrian Amos, Cody Whitehair (the 2016 version), Eddie Jackson and Eddie Goldman. Tarik Cohen may be a real find if he can continue to develop and improve. There are some other players that may develop into weapons for this team including Adam Shaheen, Mitchell Trubisky and Nick Kwiatkoski. It will be interesting to see how these guys develop.
The only Pro Bowler out of this group has been Howard. Some of these guys are fringe Pro Bowlers like Amos and Goldman. If Floyd could stay healthy and step it up, he could be a Pro Bowler as well. There will be bigger things ahead for him and some of these other draft picks. That’s if they can stay healthy and develop. With the proper coaching and in the proper situation, a vast majority of the Bears’ draft picks under the Pace regime, mostly in the past two seasons, can be productive and contribute.
Let’s just hope everything falls into place for these picks as time goes on. Perhaps with a new coaching staff and better talent around them, these picks will shine.
